Show reel Critique

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nWt24t_zaaE

I find this show reel to be very good and favorable because the projects are well thought out and put together. The show reel brings out the authors personality in a way. The lighting on the project as well as the soundtrack was captivating. The way the production was put together shows the different stages each of the projects were done in and the artist creativity.

I found this show reel to be very displeasing because the colors were so plain and the lighting was dull. The soundtrack also was very boring

Discussion #11

I found some of the elements in this production very displeasing. For example, the walk of the character was mechanical rather than natural. The character had no physical contact with anything that he made efforts to interact with. For example, he was seen flipping with his hands towards the ground but he did not touch the ground. Also, he was shown taking up a ball but his hands made no contact with the ball. Furthermore, the background music did no justice to the production. To add to that, I don’t see where it can be identified which parts of the show reel highlights the best productions.

I think that this show reel was remarkable. The productions were very good. I saw no flaw in the drawings and the animations were also very fluid and emulated real life motion. I must say also that the music was very instrumental (no pun intended) in selling the show reel. The transitions were very clear-cut.

Timing – 41:58 – 42:01
Here we see the face of Naruto coming around in slow motion. In my view we had a glimpse of seeing how the frames are fitted tightly together to achieve this.
Secondary action – 3:51 – 3:59
Here Gaara is shown crying. The picture being painted here is that he is sad. However, he is shown to be wiping his tears as well. This action is secondary to him crying. As the crying is the main action that tells us how he is feeling.

Exaggeration – 13:11
Here Nappa is portrayed to be overly surprised, rather shocked. His face expression was much intensified to show the degree of his emotion.
Or
5:25 (same exaggeration scene)

Appeal – 50:05 – 50:29
Here we see Gohan transforming to Super Saiyan 2. In this form he is more muscular than he was before, the structure of his hair changed, and he now has electric waves emitting from his body. This causes him to look tougher and more awesome. Which allows him to be adored as a character.
Arcs – 0.58 - 0:59, 1:15-1:17
Arcs are seen here at the above times. First when Black Panther claws at Man-Ape. Then when he spins his staff above his head.
Solid drawing – 0:23
